Our Story
Two bikes. One dream. Twenty-five years.
The story behind Alias4us.
Some stories start with a bang.
Ours started on a bike.
Pisa, 1998. A tree-lined avenue. Two clueless twenty-somethings pedaling home after wasting an afternoon at the university cafeteria.
One was studying Physics.
The other had just crawled out of a year of academic purgatory in Biology and finally made it into Medical School.
We did go there to eat, technically.
Mostly, though, we went to look at girls and invent entire personalities for them.
“See her? I bet she's a nightmare.”
“What about that one? She looks like she'd hate absolutely everybody.”
Then came the twins.
Two of them.
Two of us.
The math practically did itself. We were hopeless.
Two complete nerds, talking — and talking — and talking — about everything. Life. Dreams. Music. Girls. More girls. Always on the way home, riding side by side through that half-lit avenue.
And then, somewhere along that road, the question that started it all:
“You into music?”
“Of course.”
“Rock?”
“Hell yeah.”
“I play guitar... totally by ear.”
“No way. I've been meaning to learn. Maybe you could show me a few things?”
“Sure. But fair warning — I'm left-handed.”
That was it. That was the whole beginning.
From that day on — and every day after, as if it were still Day One — we never really stopped telling each other stories. Little by little, those stories became songs.
As we grew older. As life kept throwing emotions at us.
The beautiful ones.
The heartbreaking ones.
The ones that knock the wind out of you.
The ones that make you jealous.
The ones that leave you wondering what the hell just happened.
At first, we called ourselves The Heavy Thoughts. Because we already knew we weren't exactly lightweight people. We didn't do shallow. Everything had to mean something.
Sometimes... probably a little too much.
We went to the same music school. Shared the same dreams. Shared the same obsession with guitars.
And, yes — at one point, we were even interested in the same woman. One of us was hopelessly in love with her. The other was already looking toward the horizon for the next possibility.
Completely normal.
Almost sanity.
Or maybe total madness.
Then came our first student concert. Our first song written together.
The first. The only one.
Our teacher, Vernaccini, deserves a special mention here. Seriously. The patience that man had.
Then came degrees. Master's degrees. Medical specializations. America. COVID. Life.
At some point, one of us started making music alone. The other seemed fully committed to discovering exactly how many bones a human body could break by crashing onto asphalt.
Meanwhile, love happened. Families happened. Children happened. Life happened — and it took us in different directions.
Heartbreak. Betrayal. Marriage. Jobs. Flights. Responsibilities.
The kind of plot twists nobody warns you about.
But somehow, through all of it, the dream never really changed: to turn emotions into music.
Music became our favourite alias.
So we became ALIAS4US.
Because, truthfully, we've always talked about the same things. First crushes. First awkward encounters. Women. Broken hearts. Broken promises. The spectacular ways people can wreck each other's lives... and, occasionally, save them.
Deep down, we're still those two idiots riding home on their bikes, telling each other what they want to be when they grow up.
AI didn't create our dream.
It just stopped it from collecting dust in a drawer.
So here we are. Still telling stories. Still watching two lives evolve side by side. Still trying to make sense of it all through music.
And, if we're being completely honest... we still prefer talking about women.
And love.
Because love is a little like a red balloon.
Blow it up too much, and it bursts.
Don't hold on tight enough, and it floats away.
Enjoy the ride.
And, obviously, the music.
Certe storie iniziano con un botto.
La nostra è iniziata in bicicletta.
Pisa, 1998.
Vita. Sogni. Musica. Ragazze. Altre ragazze. Sempre tornando a casa, fianco a fianco, lungo quel viale mezzo illuminato.
All'inizio ci chiamavamo The Heavy Thoughts. Tutto doveva significare qualcosa.
A volte... probabilmente un po' troppo.
Stessa scuola di musica. Stessi sogni.
Ancora a raccontare storie.
